Rafael Cavalcante Fails Drug Test, Suspended for a Year
In addition to a one-year suspension, the CSAC issued Cavalcante a $2,500 fine.
Strikeforce’s former champion Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante was suspended by the California State Athletic Commission for testing positive for a banned substance, after his win against Mike Kyle, last month in the concluded “Strikeforce: Heavyweight Grand Prix Final” event.
CSAC’s Executive Officer George Dodd, did not reveal what drug Cavalcante tested positive for. Strikeforce still has yet to make an official statement.
Besides ruling a one-year suspension, the CSAC has also issued Cavalcante a $2,500 fine. His victory will be likely overturned to a no-contest barring a successful appeal.
Kyle submitted to Cavalcante in just 33 seconds, during the first round of their Heavyweight Grand Prix Final bout which took place last May 19 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.View Article Source »
