Joey Beltran Makes a UFC Comeback Via “UFC on Fuel TV: Munoz vs. Weidman”
Joey Beltran is set to face James Te-Huna in a light heavyweight bout at the upcoming UFC on Fuel TV event
Beltran was dismissed from UFC, early this year, after his second straight defeat following his loss to Lavar Johnson last January, at UFC on FOX 2. He moves down to light heavyweight to duel with Kiwi fighter James Te-Huna this July. He replaces Brandon Vera who moves up to face Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua on the FOX card.
UFC officials made the announcement via UFC.com:
“Capitalizing on the chaos and stepping in to meet Te Huna is UFC veteran Joey Beltran, a teammate of Vera at Alliance MMA. After his heavyweight stint in the UFC, “The Mexicutioner” found success at light heavyweight and will return to face fellow slugger Te Huna in what promises to be a crowd-pleasing battle.”
Following his UFC dismissal, Beltran moves down to light heavyweight and made a debut as a 205-lb last April, at a local C3 Fights show in Oklahoma, where he won by earning a unanimous decision victory against his contender, Anton Talamante.
Te-Huna, earned a first round TKO win in his last bout against Aaron Rosa, last March, at the UFC on FX 2 show in Australia. He has a month left to train for his new opponent, Beltran, after his original bout versus Brandon Vera was scrapped.View Article Source »
