Jake Ellenberger Likes Potential Fight Against GSP or Condit
After winning over Jake Shields at last Saturday's UFC Fight Night 25, Jake Ellenberger likes to have a match against Georges St-Pierre or Carlos Condit.
While up-and-coming welterweight talent – Jake Ellenberger – needed just 53 seconds to knock Jake Shields out, it was hardly the easiest victory of his career. In fact, he admitted that it was quite difficult to put aside his compassion to the former welterweight title contender — whose father passed away prior to last Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 25.
Jake Ellenberger, though confident that he will win the match, was even surprised to see how quickly the fight ended.
“I definitely could see myself winning this fight. Coming into this fight, I had a lot of confidence with my training and coaches, as well. But not that quick.”
But he did what he exactly had to do — netting his fifth consecutive win under the UFC banner. Now, the 26-year-old fighter has his sights set on the top of the division. Jake Ellenberger is also confident that he would serve as a tough test to the winner of the upcoming UFC 137 welterweight title match between Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Condit.
And while he like to have a match against Georges St-Pierre or Carlos Condit, he might just need to wait on who will emerge victorious between BJ Penn and Nick Diaz — who seems to have a nice case in claiming a title shot next. With a “Knockout of the Night Win” over Jake Shields – whom Georges St-Pierre could not finish within 25 minutes – Jake Ellenberger’s crack for the title may not be long.View Article Source »
