Diego Nunes Exits UFC 135, to Face Manny Gamburyan in December
Diego Nunes withdraws from his upcoming match at UFC 135 due to injury and personal problems. Will the fight card be reshuffled?
Previously slated to face Manny Gamburyan at UFC 135: Jones vs Rampage, featherweight fighter – Diego Nunes – bows out from his scheduled match. His original opponent, Manny Gamburyan, exits from the said bout last August 15 due to injury. Then last Monday, he decided not to accept another match up due to personal problems and afflictions.
Diego Nunes explained at Sherdog.com last Monday:
“I won’t fight [at UFC 135] anymore. The UFC didn’t find an opponent quickly and I also got injured in training. I’m suffering with painful tendonitis in my left arm, and I also had a problem in my hometown, where some people tried to murder my father. It was the best decision [to postpone the fight] so I can travel south to see my family.”
But despite that, the 28-year-old featherweight fighter intends to return to action against Manny Gamburyan with whom he has a personal grudge. While noting that he could come back by December, Diego Nunes added:

“I think I will face him. That’s my main focus now. When I give the green light to my manager, after I’m fully recovered, I’ll talk to him and see if the UFC can match us. I would rather fight more tough and named guys, but we have this feud and it will be cool.”
