Strikeforce Challengers 18: Medical Suspensions
Following Friday's Strikeforce Challengers 18: Gurgel vs Duarte event, the Nevada State Athletic Commission released its official list of suspended fighters.
Although they have both attained victories at the Strikeforce Challengers 18 event last Friday, Joe Duarte and Nate James could still be sent out of the cage for several months. Last Monday, The Nevada State Athletic Commission released the post-fight medical suspension list for the Strikeforce Challengers 18.
The Strikeforce Challengers 18, which was the promotion’s second event at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, headlined the lightweight bout between Joe Duarte and Jorge Gurgel. Duarte got the victory but could be suspended until February 2012 due to a finger injury.
NSAC’s full list of suspensions includes seven fighters:
Joe Duarte: Suspended until February 9. The fighter must undergo an x-ray procedure for his left middle finger.
Nate James: Suspended until Feb. 9 due to foot and ankle injuries. James will also face a minimum suspension until Sept. 12 with no contact during training until Sept. 3 because of a scalp laceration.
Derrick Mehmen: Suspended until September 27 with no contact before Sept. 12 due to a left eye laceration.
Keith Berry: Suspended until Feb. 9, 2012. Berry must undergo an x-ray procedure for his injured left-hand; regardless, suspended until Sept. 12 with no contact before Sept. 3 due to left eyebrow laceration.
Lukasz Les: Suspended until September 12 with no contact prior to Sept. 3.
Chad Leonhardt: Suspended until September 12 with no contact prior to Sept. 3.
Sterling Ford: Suspended until September 12 with no contact prior to Sept. 3.View Article Source »
