Fedor Emelianenko: To Make a Fall Return in Russia
It is not yet the end of the road for Fedor Emelianenko, as he is set to make a fall return in hometown Russia.
While there are speculations that Fedor Emelianenko’s knockout loss against Dan Henderson last July 30 may mean the end of his career, M1-Global revealed that he’s not done yet. As stated by M1-Global President and Co-founder, Vadim Finkelstein:
“We consulted with Fedor and it was decided that he should not leave the sport in this way. “We want to organize a fight for Fedor in Russia and have already begun working in this direction. If everything goes as planned, we will produce a card in Moscow or St. Petersburg sometime in the fall, with Fedor as the main event.”
However, The Last Emperor’s next opponent is yet to be named. Moreover, his next match will mark his first in-ring appearance in his home country since April 2007. And it may not be his only homecoming for this year.
Vadim Finkelstein also added that M-1 Global is currently in negotiation with their Japanese contacts to organize a New Year’s Eve event in Japan — where Fedor Emelianenko will participate as well. The Last Emperor was known to perform in Japan every December 31 between 2003 and 2007. His most recent match is an armbar submission win over Hong Man Choi of South Korea.
