John Fitch: No UFC Fights Ahead Yet
Even with his astonishing MMA career stats, Jon Fitch still doesn't have any scheduled fight after his last match against BJ Penn.
The American Kickboxing product lost only to UFC welterweight champion, Georges St-Pierre, back in 2008 at UFC 87. After that, he won five consecutive bouts and a draw on his last fight against BJ Penn. When his name was called by other contender like Rick Story, Jon Fitch just responded by saying: “I’m at a point in my career where I need to be fighting main events and main event fighters. And if you don’t have a belt, currently, or you haven’t owned a belt in the UFC, I’m not really interested.”
John Fitch may not be interested to fight other fighters without a belt, but he also have no choice. Even if he had a stunning career stats of 13-1-1 inside the Octagon, he hasn’t often been linked to a second title shot.
While UFC fighters are all signed in a contract, most of them usually ends up fighting who the promotion wants them to fight. And Jon Fitch is not an exemption. Regardless of the draw with Penn, there still no rematch seen in the promotion’s plan. BJ Penn is set to face Carlos Condit at UFC 137 in October, while Jon Fitch doesn’t have any upcoming bouts.
So it remains to be seen just when and where will Jon Fitch return, following a few months off due to shoulder surgery.View Article Source »
