Three Team Golden Glory Fighters, Released from Zuffa
As the Zuffa vs Team Golden Glory fight heats up, three more fighters from the Holland gym were released from their contract.
Based from a lead trainer named Martijn de Jong – which is the one who first post the said news on Twitter – the fighters that were released from Zuffa are former Strikeforce champion, Marloes Coenen, Valentijn Overeem and UFC heavyweight fighter, Jon Olav Einemo. This will be the second move of Zuffa against the Team Golden Glory, following Alistair Overeem’s release.
Zuffa and Team Golden Glory currently has a gap with each other, which could be a vast understatement considering the news from Wednesday.
Marloes Coenen is the former Strikeforce bantamweight champion who just lost her belt to Miesha Tate last weekend in Chicago. Valentijn Overeem also came from a loss from his previous match against Chad Griggs, while Jon Olav Einemo only got one fight in the UFC where he suffered a lost from Dave Herman at UFC 131.
The only fighter from Golden Glory gym under Zuffa’s banner who’s currently fighting full time is the current heavyweight Grand Prix fighter, Sergei Kharitonov. He is scheduled to fight Josh Barnett for the semifinal round of the tournament on September 10 in Cincinnati.View Article Source »
