Gina Carano Cleared for Training, Possible for Strikeforce Comeback in 2011
Gina Carano is now set to return to her training after suffering from a mysterious ailment.
Good news for Women’s MMA fans: Gina Carano has already been cleared by her personal doctor to resume training, and if ever it goes well, she will be returning to the cage soon. Though her camp hasn’t announced any official comeback date for her, GinaCarano’s manager is positive to have a return before the year ends.
According to a source close to manager, Scott Karp, it’s far from a promise but she will be back in training soon. “She’s feeling good,” Karp confirmed. “She’s ready to get back in there and train.”
Gina Carano was supposed to meet Sarah D’Alelio at the Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum event last June. However, she was suffering from an undisclosed ailment, pushing her doctor to ban her from competing in the said Texas card. Now, it seems that the medical issue – which hinders her from defeating D’Alelio – was thrown out of the scene.
Meanwhile, Gina Carano had been a part of the recently held Comic-Con event wherein she promoted her upcoming movie, “Haywire”. The film – which features the female MMA fighter along with actors Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas and Antonio Banderas – is directed by Academy Award-winning director, Steven Soderbergh.
Gina Carano’s last appearance in the cage was in 2009 when she lost the first fight of her professional career in a match against Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos. The bout was reported to reach over 856,000 viewers on Showtime and 576,000 venue attendants.View Article Source »
