Gray Maynard Resumes Training, Possible for a Bout in UFC 136
Gray Maynard finally received a go signal to continue his training and prepare for a possible match in UFC 136.
Gray Maynard recently received a permission from his doctor, allowing him to continue his training after suffering from an injury. According to some reports, Gray Maynard (10-0-1 MMA, 8-0-1 UFC) is possible to be listed on the UFC 136 event in October. The Las Vegas-based fighter suffered from a knee injury during his preparation for a rematch against Frankie Edgar (13-1-1 MMA, 8-1-1 UFC) at UFC 130. Frankie Edgar, on the other hand, was also forced to leave the bout due to an injury on his back.
Though Gray Maynard disclosed before that those ‘knee injury’ issues were not true, the MMA lightweight contender was said to undergo a joint treatment and a surgery for elbow injury in Los Angeles. He has been cleared for training and will be preparing for a UFC event on October, which already highlights the light-heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard first met on UFC 125 this past January, wherein the reigning champ lost his hopes to win during the initial rounds of the game. The contender, on the other hand, believed that he could grab the victory if not only for his tired stamina. UFC President, Dana White, then announced a rematch for the two fighters at UFC. Unfortunately, both of them pulled out.
