UFC 132: Cruz vs Faber Preliminary Card Preview
Before you place your bets for UFC 132, check out Fighting Insider's preview for the tournament's preliminary card.
Bantamweight champ, Dominick Cruz, will defend his UFC title belt for the first time against the only man who was able to beat him — Urijah Faber. The match-up is worth the pay-per-view, while the whole fight card is full of superstars and especially compelling match-ups.
1. Anthony Njokuani vs Andre Winner
Following his Fight of the Night performance against Edson Barboza, Anthony Njokuani will lock horns with fellow striker – Andre Winner – on July 2. Both of them are exciting strikers, who are fighting for their chance to stay in UFC. That said, expect fireworks coming from this bout.
2. Brad Tavares vs Aaron Simpson
This match-up is a war between two talented athletes, fighting their way to the top of middleweight division. Brad Tavares is an exciting young prospect, who looks massive in the weight class and has the potential to be a contender. Aaron Simpson, on the other hand, is a tenacious fighter and proven competitor. Being the more athletic that he is, Aaron Simpson will seek to push the pace and mix in his wrestling prowess.
3. Brian Bowles vs Takeya Mizugaki
This is a bout between the two best bantamweight fighters in the world. Takeya Mizugaki has been tested against few of the notable bantamweight fighters, while Brian Bowles is the former champion and number one fighter of his weight class in the world. The latter’s victory will make him the next title contender. However, his opponent is a pushover and has just as much to gain by outpointing Brian Bowles.
4. George Sotiropoulos vs Rafael Dos Anjos
George Sotiropoulos will look for a rebound in this duel, after Dennis Siver marred his seven-fight win streak last February. Opposing him is a fellow grappler, Rafael Dos Anjos. With both of them expert on the mat, this is an epic battle that will decide on who’s the most dangerous ground fighter in the lightweight division.
5. Melvin Guillard vs Shane Roller
Both Melvin Guillard and Shane Roller are heavy-handed fighters. However, the former is a more powerful striker. Still, Melvin Guillard must be on point all the time if he wants to beat a savvy fighter like Shane Roller.
