Dustin Porier: Not Stepping Back from UFC 131
Dustin Porier predicts what his fight against Jason Young on Saturday will be. Will he continue making his way up in the featherweight division?
Dustin Porier is one of UFC’s rising star in the featherweight division. For the last six months, he has proven this description to be true. On New Year’s Day, Dustin Porier gave Josh Grispi a defeat at UFC 125 when he served as a late replacement for the injured champion — Jose Aldo. In what has to be a title match, Dustin Porier’s win over Josh Grispi was the most high-profile fight of his career.
At UFC 131, he was supposed to face Rani Yahya. However, the Brazilian grappler was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury. And stepping in for Rani Yahya at UFC 131 on June 11 will be Jason Young. While Dustin Porier was disappointed by the change, he insists that he will not take his new opponent lightly.
“I wanted to fight Yahya because of his name and because of the guys he’s beaten. I kind of wanted his name on my win record more than anything, and the respect from beating a top fighter, but Young is dangerous. He’s been doing very well and will continue to do very well in this sport, just not June 11.
“I think it’s going to be a great fight, hopefully Fight of the Night. I know one thing: he doesn’t take any steps back and neither do I dude, so this going to be an incredible fight for the fans. I don’t think this is going to be a decision fight; I think somebody is going to get finished, and he fights from bell-to-bell and I fight from bell-to-bell. When you’ve got two guys that fight like this, it’s going to be ridiculous; the fans are gonna love it.”
If Dustin Porier’s predictions about his upcoming fight becomes a reality, then he has definitely proved that he is indeed a rising star in UFC’s featherweight division.View Article Source »
