Shane Carwin Grabs the Opportunity for Title Elimination at UFC 131
Shane Carwin shares his excitement on facing Juniors Dos Santos at the main event of the upcoming UFC 131.
Though he might a be a stand-in for UFC 131, Shane Carwin proves that he is certainly not a push-over with his 12-1 career record. The former interim heavyweight champion grabs the opportunity to step into the main event of UFC 131, battling it out against Junior Dos Santos. Both Shane Carwin and Junior Dos Santos will step in the Octagon with identical 12-1 records, together with their reputation as entertaining, stand-up fighters.
“Both dos Santos and I got to where we’re at by knocking guys out on our feet. I think we’re both explosive fighters and I think the fans are going to have a real treat at UFC 131 when it gets to that main event knowing both guys have knockout power in their hands.”
Shane Carwin was originally set to face UFC rookie, Jon Olav Einemo, in the tournament’s undercard. But he was tapped to replace Brock Lesnar in the headlines, as the latter withdrew due to re-occurring Diverticulitis. His last fight marks the only smear in his professional MMA resume, where he was defeated by Brock Lesnar at UFC 116 last year. Shane Carwin is now eager to get back into the competition, and put the lessons from that loss to use.
UFC 131: Dos Santos vs Carwin will kick off on June 11 at the Rogers Arena in Vacouver, Canada.View Article Source »
