Jeff Monson to Knock Daniel Cormier at Strikeforce Grand Prix
Jeff Monson will show his fighting prowess against Daniel Cormier, as their bout will be part of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix : Overeem vs. Werdum.
Jeff Monson, 40, was undefeated in his last eight fights. He is considered as Tim Sylvia’s tough competitor in the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 65 last November 2006. An American Top Team member, Jeff Monson was able to win over Tim Sylvia because of his height and reach advantage.
On the other hand, Daniel Cormier is a graduate of American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose and is part of the US Olympic wrestling team in 2008. Following his debut at Strikeforce in September 2009, has won his latest fight against Devin Cole at Challengers 13 last January via unanimous decision
Meanwhile, Alistair Overeem will face Fabricio Werdum and Josh Barnett will fight against Brett Rogers in the Strikeforce’s remaining Heavyweight Grand Prix quarterfinal bouts. Valentijn Overeem vs. Chad Griggs, Gina Carano vs. Sarah D’Alelio, KJ Noons vs. Jorge Masvidal and Gesias Cavalcante vs. Justin Wilcox will also be featured in the event.
