Edgar and Maynard Both Injured, UFC 130 Takes a Shuffle
UFC 130 is Edgar vs Maynard 3 no more, as both fighters bow out from their much-awaited rematch.
Lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar, and undefeated contender, Gray Maynard, both withdrew from their highly anticipated UFC 130 rematch due to undisclosed injuries. That said, UFC officials promoted the Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs Matt Hamill co-main event as the tournament’s main attraction. Meanwhile, a heavyweight showdown between Frank Mir and Roy Nelson will serve as UFC 130’s co-main event.
Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard had an early frontrunner for ‘Fight of the Year’ last New Year’s Day, when both fighters fought to a draw at UFC 125. The latter nearly finished the first round with barrage of power punches, but the reigning lightweight king survived it.
The UFC 130 will take place on May 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. With the tournament headlining a new pair of fighters, will this affect the event’s ticket sales?View Article Source »
