Jay Hieron Takes the Bellator Welterweight Title

Jay Hieron improved his MMA record to 22-4 after beating Rick Hawn at last Saturday's Bellator Season 4 Welterweight Tournament.

Last Saturday night, won via split decision against and took home the Welterweight title. Two judges scored 29-28 in favor of the former, and credited his training for getting in to the kind of shape he needed to win in the promotion’s eight-man .

“I just train my butt off, man. No matter what’s going on, I’m in the gym sweating.”

His MMA record improved to 22-4 and is now carrying a ten-fight winning streak. In addition to this, Jay Hieron is now tagged as the number one contender versus at the Bellator Welterweight Championship.

But despite all the night’s success, there is still a hanging question for Bellator: Will putting good fighters like Jay Hieron and Rick Hawn in the cage attract more attention than a small number of true blue MMA fans? Let your answers be heard at the comment box.
