MMA Play-by-Play Voice, Gus Johnson, Leaves CBS Network
The play-by-play voice commentator, Gus Johns, leaves the CBS network.
Gus Johnson who is known as CBS mixed martial arts reporter was reported to leave the network. The news came from Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated, saying that Gus Johnson was set to leave after he failed to have a new contract in CBS. Rumors has not confirmed that the reporter might also leave Showtime where he is also a MMA and boxing commentator. Still, Gus Johnson will still be part in broadcasting the Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley bout.
There are a lot of expectations from Gus Johnson when he became a MMA commentator due to his being a well-regarded broadcaster in basketball and foot ball. But later, many MMA enthusiasts noticed that he doesn’t fit in broadcasting MMA fights, saying that he simply don’t know anything about the sports.
UFC’s and Showtime’s plan about Gus Johnson’s replacement in case he will leave would be interesting to see.
