Former heavyweight champion, Fedor Emelianenko, will officially meet Dan Henderson on a Strikeforce card set for July 30. No exact venue has been announced yet, but back-fence talks are pointing at the Chicago area. The Fedor Emelianenko vs Dan Henderson match, which will air on Showtime, will mark M-1 Global and Zuffa’s joint force for an event.
Strikeforce’s light heavyweight champion – Dan Henderson – expressed his interest to challenge Fedor Emelianenko, following his victory over Rafael ‘Feijao’ Cavalcante last March 5. Last April, a representative from the top ranked heavyweight fighter’s camp announced that The Last Emperor would agree to fight Dan Henderson. As for the bout’s contracted weight limit, the current light heavyweight king pointed out that a cap in a neighborhood 220 pounds is unnecessary for Fedor Emelianenko.
Details are still being finalized, but sources close to the event say that the deal has been agreed to and will be completed in a few days.
