BJ Penn Nods in Teammates Possible Fights
"I had a thousand chances to go train with Jon Fitch, but I knew I'm probably going to fight this guy one day, so let's be friends when we're done fighting." --- BJ Penn, UFC Fighter
In a Monday broadcast of MMA hour, the UFC’s once upon a time welterweight and lightweight title bearer – BJ Penn – said that sometimes teammates must have to fight each other. BJ Penn did not hesitate to say yes into any possible match-up against his former teammates, insisting that it can provide gain in his career. He even added that fighting teammates is part of an UFC fighter’s task.
BJ Penn also elaborated why he didn’t conduct his training in mainland gyms, and rather opted to train in Hawai.
“You know why I never went to any of these places and trained? Because it’s the same thing that you see with guys like Rashad Evans and Jon Jones. Now there’s a big problem because of that. That’s why I always kept my distance from anyone. I had a thousand chances to go train with Jon Fitch, but I knew I’m probably going to fight this guy one day, so let’s be friends when we’re done fighting.”
