TUF 13 Episode 4 Recap
At this week's episode of The Ultimate Fighter season 13, Team Dos Santos is up to 3-1.
At this week’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter season 13, Team Dos Santos started their session in high spirits after Ryan McGillivray’s victory at episode 3. At the other side of the fence, Brock Lesnar showed up and gave Len Bentley some words of encouragement after his recent loss. Brock Lesnar is definitely committed in getting wins from his remaining four fighters. In fact, he is so committed that he’s not glad seeing Clay Harvison and Charlie Rader getting irked by the minute. During the fight announcement, Junior Dos Santos picked his team’s Ramsey Nijem against Team Lesnar’s Charlie Rader.
Back at Team Lesnar’s session, the coach brought Matt Hughes as a guest instructor. Matt Hughes works closely with the cast members, while specifically drilling wrestling techniques. At the end of their session, the former champ left with a round of applause.
The next day, it was fight time.
Both Ramsey Nijem and Charlie Rader were cleared for their weigh-ins and dealt with pre-fight jitters. However, the Team Dos Santos fighter appears more relaxed than his opponent.
Officiated by referee Herby Dean, the first round started with a leg kick and punches from Charlie Rader. Apparently, Ramsey Nijem was able to put him against the cage and aims for a takedown. However, an illegal knee from Ramsey Nijem invoked a quick timeout. Following the restart, he was able to put the Team Lesnar representative against the cage once more. And showing the officials that he was the clear aggressor, Ramsey Nijem got the first round.
Both fighters exchanged wild punches at the second round. But Ramsey Nijem was quick to close the distance and looks for the takedown. He rattled Charlie Rader with punches, until he executed a rear-naked choke. Unfortunately, Charlie Rader quickly tapped out.
Obviously, Brock Lesnar was angry and frustrated, while Team Dos Santos was up 3-1.
