Anderson Silva vs Yushin Okami for UFC Rio

Anderson Silva vs. Georges St-Pierre? Not so fast. The middleweight champ still has a contender to beat in Yushin Okami at UFC Rio.
UFC President, Dana White, confirmed on USA Today last Wednesday that the Silva vs GSP superfight is yet to come. Apparently, middleweight champion – Anderson Silva – will face Yushin Okami at UFC Rio this August 27.
Yushin Okami earned a title shot after defeating Nate Marquardt last year. However, following Anderson Silva’s victory over Vitor Belfort, most fans thought that the match on the horizon for the champ is the Silva vs GSP superfight. Still, George St-Pierre has an up coming bout against Jake Shields at UFC 129.
Anderson Silva and Yushin Okami first met at the Rumble on the Rock in 2006. The Japanese fighter was able to take down the Brazilian early in the fight, if only the middleweight champion did not execute a head kick. Yushin Okami was knocked out, but he was declared as the winner in the event. As for the current UFC middleweight king, that was the last time that his professional MMA record was marred. This August, they will settle the real score at UFC Rio.
