UFC 127: Penn vs Fitch Picks and Predictions
UFC 127 is drawing near and you still haven't place your bet? Fighting Insider got some picks and predictions for the main bout!
The UFC will come back to the Land Down Under this Saturday, February 26, at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. The promotion will bring in the UFC 127, highlighting a welterweight battle between BJ Penn and Jon Fitch. However, Fighting Insider knows that fans are still contemplating on who might win in the upcoming event. That said, check the main bout’s prediction below.
After reigning at the lightweight division, it seems that BJ Penn has put his inclination for flat performances behind, and shifted his disposition for a long run at the top. He was an 8-1 favorite before losing to Frankie Edgar at UFC 112. After that, BJ Penn was unfortunately outdone during their rematch at UFC 118. But three months later, he instantly resurrected his career with a 21-second knock out win over Matt Hughes at UFC 123.
Jon Fitch, on the other hand, represents BJ Penn’s polar opposite in many levels. He is a modest athlete who works insanely hard to squeeze out every ounce of his ability. And it seems that Jon Fitch will not let BJ Penn do what he wanted to do at welterweight. He will come to out-power the Hawaiian fighter, forcing him to fight harder than what he did during the Edgar rematch.
With BJ Penn’s stout enough stand-up, Jon Fitch will look to force clinches and take downs to weaken The Prodigy. And though it’ll be dangerous for him, he can force the other guy to burn energy while constantly aiming for a dominant position. That said, Jon Fitch can secure a take down by second round.
