MMA Hall of Fame: Matt Hughes

In this week's edition of MMA Hall of Fame, Fighting Insider is featuring the UFC Champion who is made in America -- Matt Hughes.

Born as Matthew Allen Hughes on October 13, 1973, is a two-time UFC welterweight champion who has put together two separate six-fight winning streaks. In addition to this, he also defended his championship belt seven times and holds the record of most wins with 18 in the UFC. Garnering the most number of UFC fights with 24, was inducted as a member of the UFC Hall of Fame on May of last year.

Born in Hillsboro, Illinois, Matt Hughes went at Southwestern Illinois College before transferring to Lincoln College. After that, he moved to Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. During Matt Hughes’ freshman and sophomore years, he joined the NJCAA All-American Team, and spent his last two years in college with NCAA Division I All-American Team.

Matt Hughes also has an autobiography entitled Made in America: The Most Dominant Champion in UFC History.
