After TUF 13, Junior Dos Santos Aims for a Title Shot

With Cain Velasquez out of the picture for a while, Junior Dos Santos will have to face Brock Lesnar in a TUF 13 coaching stint first, and must surpass him at UFC 131 before getting the title shot.
After Cain Velasquez announced that he will undergo surgery and might layoff for six to eight months, many wondered what will happen with his top challenger — Junior Dos Santos. Waiting for his shot for the title, Junior Dos Santos clearly stated that he does not intend to sit back and relax that long. Having last fought in August 2010, a six to eight months repose will put him out of action for a year too.
Good thing, Dana White tapped him as the next coach of the upcoming TUF 13, opposite Brock Lesnar. It’s no brainer that Brock Lesnar is a huge draw in the mixed martial arts. And while Junior Dos Santos has reached the top rank with his powerful wins, he still hasn’t reached the largest part of the demographic yet. But The Ultimate Fighter might shift that.
Financial benefits aside, Junior Dos Santos intends to keep his career going because sitting on the sidelines for months can affect a fighter when fight night arrives. That said, he will face Brock Lesnar at a tentative UFC 131 event after the coaching stint. If he comes out of the Octagon successful, he will welcome Cain Velasquez back on the latter part of the year. And this time, with the UFC heavyweight title on the line.
