UFC 125 Bonuses Lead by Guida, Stephens, Edgar and Maynard
UFC 125 has concluded on New Year's day with a blast. Edgar and Maynard's main-card bout resulted in a draw. While that came as a disappointment both fighters still received bonuses come what may.
Stephens went home with the night’s “Knockout of the Night” award. Guida on the other hand got the “Submission of the Night” bonus, while Edgar and Maynard each earned “Fight of the Night” honors.
UFC 125 took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card aired on pay-per-view, and three preliminary-card fights aired on ION Television.
Stephens fought in the preliminary-card bout which aired on ION Television. He floored welterweight-turned-lightweight Marcus Davis with a third-round right win. Stephens was a bit rocky during the first round but persevered for the come-from-behind win.
Guida, picked up one of his biggest victory and staked claim the lightweight title contention with a second-round guillotine choke to lightweight Takanori Gomi. Guida’s high-energy style paid with win over Gomi. Though few of Gomi’s heavy blows seemed to phase the fan favorite. Guida scored a takedown and cinched the guillotine choke for the tap-out.
Lightweight champ Edgar and challenger Maynard, fought to a draw. It maybe a bit absurd knowing that Maynard jump out to an early lead with multiple knockdowns and Edgar storm back with crisp striking and an effective sprawl.
UFC officials also confirmed that Edgar and Maynard also both received their win bonuses despite the draw.View Article Source »
