Randy Couture and Lyoto Machida Slated for UFC 129
While Chuck Lidell announced his retirement in the fighting arena, Randy Couture gives it another shot before jumping out of the ring. The Expendables actor is said to agree for a fight with Lyoto Machida for the upcoming UFC 129 in April. But it is still under considerations.
Randy Couture confirmed that he has agreed to face former champion, Lyoto Machida (16-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC), at UFC 129. Sources said that the deal hasn’t closed yet, but verbal agreements are on going as reported by MMAFighting.com.
While the officials hasn’t announced any bouts for UFC 129, the event is slated on April 30 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
Last October, Couture said that he is more focused now on Hollywood role playing than fighting. But he never claimed that he’ll be finishing his career in fighting.
This March, Couture is expected to start filming for “The Expendables 2,” in which he’ll reprise his role as Toll Road. Potential scheduling conflicts are said to be among the reasons why he needed to clear before the bout can become more of a reality.
Couture is on the verge of victory with a three-fight win streak which includes a heavyweight win over James Toney at this past August’s UFC 118 event, as well as two light heavyweight wins over Mark Coleman and Brandon Vera.
On the other hand, after opening his career with 16-straight wins, Machida has now lost back-to-back fights. “The Dragon” lost the UFC light heavyweight title to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua this past May and then dropped a heartbreaking split decision to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in November.View Article Source »
