Henderson vs Pettis, Greenlits WEC’s Final Showdown

The final showdown of World Extreme Cagefighting is fast approaching, and the promotion is keen to end the run with an explosive fight. Check out the who's who of the upcoming WEC 53.
The World Extreme Cagefighting is set to end its promotional run with a bang. Headlining the final WEC event will be a lightweight championship match between Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis. Whoever gets the title will face the winner of the UFC 125 lightweight championship bout, pitting Frankie Edgar contra Gray Maynard.
But that’s not the only strap up for grabs. Former Bantamweight king Eddie Wineland is slated to meet Ken Stone at WEC 53, in addition to Dominic Cruz’s Bantamweight title defense against Scott Jorgensen. The winner of the Bantamweight match will be the official UFC Bantamweight Champion after the UFC-WEC merger.
WEC 53: Ben Henderson vs Anthony Pettis have 11 official fights, and will air on Thursday, December 16, live on Versus from the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
