UFC 123 Fighters Take Home Big Bonuses

As expected, the UFC 123 fighters always have their fair share of hefty bonuses from the promotional show. Here's the inside scoop about the UFC 123 bonuses.
B.J. Penn, Phil Davis, George Sotiropoulos and Joe Lauzon each earned $80,000 “Fight Night” bonuses from their fantastic performances during last Saturday’s “UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida” event.
Penn earned the night’s “Knockout of the Night” award making it his rebound revenge. Davis picked up the “Submission of the Night” bonus; Sotiropoulos and Lauzon shared “Fight of the Night” honors.
UFC 123 took place at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Mich. The main card aired on pay-per-view, while Spike TV aired a pair of preliminary card fights. Penn stunned his main card opponent, Matt Hughes and the Michigan crowd with a 21-second finish. After that, Penn had dropped Hughes with a right hand and was quick enough to jump on his opponent with stiff blows that followed a stoppage. He was declared winner and also awarded with a big bonus.
Davis had secured his bonus win after executing a very impressive kimura variation that left announcers at dumbfounded for a moment. After his domination over Tim Boetsch in the octagon, Davis trapped his opponent’s arm behind his back and kept the hold until Boetsch tapped twice after the referee failed to see the first submission.
During the evening’s first pay-per-view fight, Sotiropoulos and Lauzon went head-to-head as expected. While Lauzon looked quick and ready to strike on the early fight, he appeared to slow slightly in the second round. Sotirolpolous has accelerated during the fight, he hit the floor in the second, and after an attempt for kimura, it locked firmly on a second attack and forced the tap.
