Jan Finney is an Exemption

“I took that fight completely on my own, I wanted to do it. It was an opportunity and I took it.” ---Jan “Cuddles” Finney
Jan “Cuddles” Finney does not want fans to feel sorry for her after her fight with Cris “Cyborg” Santos last June.
“I know people mean well, and it’s great to hear all the feedback about having such a great heart, but I want to be known also that I have good skills as a fighter.”
Also, she does not want people to think she was forced to face a much larger opponent just to land a place inside the Strikeforce.
“I took that fight completely on my own, I wanted to do it. It was an opportunity and I took it.”
Now, it is her time to shine again as she faces Liz Carmouche at the Strikeforce Challengers Series event in Jackson, Miss.
Finney shares about her experience about preparing for the fight. “We focused a lot on movement, wrestling, ground work, and a lot of things submission-wise.
Finney does not consider being a veteran as an edge against her opponent. “She’s a Marine, and you have to have a pretty good mindset to be a Marine. So I’m going in there looking at her being the toughest opponent I could be fighting right now, and I’ll treat her that way,”
If she win this fight, Finney aims to strive hard to get the title run.
“I want just to stay busy, keep fighting, and work all aspects of my game,” stated Finney. “Whatever Strikeforce puts in front of me, I’ll take it; I’m not in any hurry.
