The biggest star in the history of WEC fought for the promotion for the final time at WEC 52, and it went just as planned. Urijah Faber choked out Takeya Mizugaki with just seconds remaining in the first round.
Urijah Faber’s plans for his last fight for WEC went as it should be, after defeating the Japanese favorite — Takeya Mizugaki. Mizugaki was holding his own early in the first round, but Faber proved how well-rounded of a fighter he is. It was only a matter of time when he took on the Japanese’s back, and attempted a rear-naked choke. Faber started the choke from a standing position, and re-positioned it after they fell on the mat. He continued to squeezed tightly until Mizugaki was left unconscious.
For a moment, there was a scary scene with a blocked out Takeya Mizugaki on the floor. But he quickly came to, and appeared to be okay. This is Urijah Faber’s first victory in the bantamweight division. He will move in the UFC most likely as a number one contender.
