Jose Aldo vs Josh Grispi – Official for UFC 125: Resolution

"Jose Aldo is one of the best fighters in the world, pound for pound, and you'll see why on Jan. 1, Aldo can do it all, and his historic arrival in the UFC as its first featherweight champion is going to set an exciting new standard. But Josh Grispi is a finisher, and he's got every intention of taking the featherweight title back to Boston." ---Dana White, UFC President
UFC 125 will mark the first ever featherweight title fight in the history of Ultimate Fighting Championship. UFC officials confirmed today that WEC’s final featherweight champion, Jose Aldo (18-1 MMA, 8-0 WEC) is defending his belt over Josh Grispi (14-1 MMA, 4-0 WEC) at the Jan. 1 event.
The “UFC 125: Resolution” will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card, will also feature the lightweight champ Frankie Edgar against Gray Maynard, airs live on pay-per-view.
“Jose Aldo is one of the best fighters in the world, pound for pound, and you’ll see why on Jan. 1,” UFC president Dana White said. “Aldo can do it all, and his historic arrival in the UFC as its first featherweight champion is going to set an exciting new standard. But Josh Grispi is a finisher, and he’s got every intention of taking the featherweight title back to Boston.”
Grispi, 22, built himself as top contender with four continuous wins opening his WEC career. He was a native of Massachusetts and earned victories over Pulver and Micah Miller in a combined 83 seconds and choked L.C. Davis unconscious in June.
On the other hand, Aldo will defend his newly-acquired UFC title. He was granted the very first UFC featherweight championship when UFC and WEC merged.
