UFC 121: A Success

Unlike the past UFC events, UFC 121 made an exception. The UFC officials got more than what they expected. The promotion earned huge number of attendees and high ratings too.
Last weekend’s UFC 121 event featuring Lesnar vs Velasquez has drawn 14,856 attendees for a live gate of $2,237,070. These figures were given by the California State Athletic Commission. The event took place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. Even though the attendance was roughly identical to the estimated digits, the gate total increased a bit from the $2.15 million estimation.
The lastest UFC event was headlined by a title fight between Brock Lesanr vs Cain Velasquez. It also scored 8th place as the highest attendance on UFC’s 20 events so far. It also scored the biggest among the organization’s California-based events.
The attendance also marked an MMA record for the Honda Center. UFC visited the place three times in the past (UFC 76, UFC 63 and UFC 59). But this is the first time that they drew out more than 13,814 attendees.
All in all, UFC 121 is a huge success. UFC President, Dana White, is quite expecting that it’s one of the year’s strongest PPV events. The UFC Prelims which was aired on SpikeTV earned the third among the highest ratings within the series’ of 12 broadcasts.
