Shields Beats Kampmann at UFC 121

Jake Shields finally made his UFC debut, acquiring a tough spilt decision win over Martin Kampmann at UFC 121. Just 30 seconds into the first round, Shields got Kampmann on the ground and brought his opponent into the world of hurt. But Kampmann managed to stay composed and got back to his feet. However, he was not able to do much in the stand-up.
It was in the second round that Kampmann landed a huge knee to the former EliteXC welterweight champ. But Shields got up relentlessly and took him into side control. However, Kampmann was better this time, and was able to take his opponent off to get back to his feet. He landed a second hard knee in the second frame, which earns him to win it.
It was Kampmann who was in control early in the third round. But it was a mistake that he brought the fight into the ground, because Shields was able to find a reserve energy. The latter got back to the former and almost sink in a rear-naked choke before the final bell sounded.
