Dana White has Big Plans for Jake Shields after UFC 121

Sorry Mr. Fitch, but it looks like UFC President Dana White has some big plans for Jake Shields -- assuming the former Strikeforce middleweight champion can get past Martin Kampmann at UFC 121 on Oct. 23 in Anaheim.
During a UFC 124 press conference in Montreal, UFC President – Dana White – brought word that Jake Shields will have a shot at a welterweight title fight if he get pass Martin Kampmann. Shields’ last bout was a unanimous decision win over Dan Henderson under the Strikeforce banner. The Cesar Gracie disciple got wobbly legs early in the first round, but was able to neutralize his opponent with his wrestling stint. After the CBS televised bout, UFC gave Shields an offer. And the fighter opted to pursue bigger and better opportunities inside the Octagon.
Jake Shields and Martin Kampmann is penciled to meet at UFC 121, together with Brock Lesnar’s title defense against Cain Velasquez. The event will take place on October 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
