WEC 53 Adds up Two Title Bouts to its Card

WEC 53 marks its debut in Arizona by putting a head to head double headliners on their card. This is part of their year-end championship of the promotion.

Ben Henderson and will defend their titles against and Scott Jorgensen on 53. The fight will take place on Dec. 16 at Glendale, Ariz., the announced Monday.

This is the first time for WEC to promore a card in Arizona. Commonly known to fans as AMP Energy’s “Hometown Takedown Contest”.

It was just last week when Henderson (12-1) signed in for the fight making it official for the lightweight title defense. A defense infront of his hometown. He shows off a 5-0 in WEC and victories over his last 11 fights. Last April he submitted Donal Cerrone with a guillotine choke to hold on to his belt. With straight wins over Danny Castillo, Alex Karalexis and Shane Roller.

Meanwhile, Cruz (16-1) broke out earlier by claiming the WEC bantamweight belt away from brian Bowles by TKO and retained it against Joseph Benavidez in August. That same event, Jorgensen (11-3) defeated Brad Pickett and claimed the No.1 contender spot. Jorgensen has won five of his games since october 2009.
