UFC 119: Mir Victorious Over Cro Cop

The fight was not what we expected it to be. First, Cro Cop and Mir were just clinching each other on the cage for three whole rounds. Second, we thought that Cro Cop is hard to knock out. Third, it was a boring 14-minute sparring rather than a fight.
Frank Mir’s brutal knee ended up the fight of Mirko Cro Cop last Saturday on UFC 119. Making it a KO win for Frank Mir ending up a 14 minute action for the headliners.
Cro Cop eventually wasn’t hurt much and got up quickly after the KO. But afterward he went up to Mir and asked what happened. Irony is that, before the bout there are speculations that Mir had to do extreme grappling in order to KO a striker like Cro Cop. Mir turned out to win without so much action.
“I just pulled a victory over Mirko with no jiu jitsu,” Mir said.
Mir and Cro Cop clinched against the cage during the early round, just when Cro Cop hit Mir with an accidental strike on the groin, the game was halted.
The clinching got even more boring on the second round. Resulting to a sparring rather than a fight. Cro Cop meanwhile, threw his signature kick late on the second round, but he missed. Both Cro Cop and Mir just looked at each other and shook their heads.
The boos were louder on the third. Until finally, Mir landed with a knee and Cro Cop rumbled. Mir pounced on his opponent on the ground and the referee Herb Dean stopped the fight.
It wasn’t the best fight of the century, but surely a big blow for Mir.
