John Gunderson vs Yves Edwards on UFC Fight Night 22
After a series of rumors about UFC Fight Night 22 main card, the final bet is on John Gunderson and Yves Edwards.
UFC will return to the Lone Star Country with creativity on the match making department. The long rumored match between Yves Edwards (38-16-1 MMA, 6-4 UFC) and John Gunderson (23-7 MMA, 1-1 UFC) is finally official and up for preliminary card for the UFC Fight Night 22 and the complete with 10 bouts.
The main event features middleweight fighters Nate Marquardt and Rousimar Palhares. The event will take place on Sept. 15 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. Spike TV will have full access to the event prior to the debut episode of “The Ultimate Fighter 12.”
This serves as the come back fought for Edwards after a 4-year absence from the octagon. He had stints in odogFIGHT, EliteXC, Strikeforce and, most recently, Bellator Fighting Championships.his most recent win came from tournament-based Bellator promotion. Which he proved Luis Palomino that he deserves the best.
The IFL veteran Gunderson, reversed his fortune with a unanimous decision over Mark Holst at TUF 11 finale. He fell short in his octagon debut with a decision loss against Rafaello Oliveira at UFC 108. He was scheduled to take over Paul Taylor at UFC 112, but Taylor was removed from Abu Dhabi card due to migraine headache. Both were re-booked to fight at the TUF 11 finale, but the latter wasn’t medically stable so Holst took over the post.
