Thiago Alves Expected to Face John Howard on UFC 124

Still without official announcement, sources say that Thiago Alves will face John Howard on UFC 124.

(17-7 , 9-4 ) after the welcoming fight issue, is expected to fight (14-5 MMA, 4-1 UFC) at .

Reliable sources were saying that agreements are taking place and the contracts are ready for signature.

Though the fight wasn’t announced yet, the UFC 124 is expected on December 11 at the Bell Centre, Montreal and will feature a welterweight title bout from champion and challenger Josh Koscheck.

Alves is opting for a reclamation after his recent performance. Wherein Jon Fitch lost via unanimous decision last August in UFC 117.

Alves looked rather tired in the 3 round bout, his first fight in more than a year of health problems twice delayed the fight, a rematch of a 2006 competition in which Fitch won a TKO victory. Subsequently, the UFC president Alves punished for lack of weight and not so subtly suggested that the Brazilian would be moving a weight class to middleweight.

But he insisted that he would be a competitive disadvantage in the said division and convinced the promotion to allow him to take a shot on the 170 ponds side. He then hired Mike Dolce as nutrisionist and said that he is around 193 pounds at the moment, much lighter than his off season weight.

Meanwhile, Howardwas recently seen at UFC Versus 2 and he also left an unfinished task inside the cage when he met Jake Ellenberger. After several exchanges, Ellenberg landed several elbows which caused Howard’s eyes to swell. Doctors heeded to stop the round and the TKO went to Ellenberger.
