The Official UFC Fight Night 22 Main Card
The Official UFC Fight Night 22 Main Card is yet to be announced. But we already got the latest scoop.
The unofficial UFC Fight Night 22 main card finally came up with the official addition. The lightweight bout between UFC 8 winner Efrain Escudero (13-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) and Charles Oliveira (13-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC). The bout gave completion to the four-fight main-card lineup for UFC Fight Night 22. The event will take place on September 15 and airing it live on Spike TV from Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.
Escudero was originally scheduled to fight against John Gunderson and Matt Wiman before a series of injuries and brewing fight card led to the confrontation Oliveira.
Oliveira’s camp had concerns about the visa for the event but the Brazilian fighter got the clearance early this month.
Escudero recently returned to the winner’s line when he sent Dan Lauzon flying out of the cage and bagged the UFC victory with a unanimous decision at UFC 114. The skill came after a loss presentation by Evan Dunham at UFC Fight Night 20 that had messed up his previously unbeaten record, which included wins over UFC Phillipe Nover and Cole Miller.
Oliveira made his debut at UFC on Versus 2 and had a “Submission of the Night” bonus with a 41-second armbar victory over Darren Elkins. Before the victory (12 wins in 13 career wins off), who extended their unbeaten series, Oliveira led the fight circuit in his native Brazil and won two fights in one night on three different occasions.
The UFC Fight Night 22 card is now official with:
John Gunderson vs. Yves Edwards
Dave Branch vs. Tomasz Drwal
Jared Hamman vs. Kyle Kingsbury
Rich Attonito vs. Rafael Natal
David Mitchell vs. Anthony Waldburger
Brian Foster vs. Forrest Petz
