The UFC Prelims Returns on UFC 121
A special UFC Prelims is gonna hit the octagon on October 23.
UFC 121 card will give us a “UFC Prelims” special, let’s rejoice. Spike TV confirmed to MMAjunkie today. Officials from the network announced that the special feature is on UFC 121 which will showcase Ryan Jensen vs Court McGee and Patrick Cote vs Tom Lawlor. The fight will take place on October 23 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California introducing the heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez.
McGee (10-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) made TUF 11 a fairytale ending when he came back from an early round loss to Nick Ring and defeated James Hammortree and Brad Tavares, earning a spot on the finale. He also submitted fellow fighter Kris McCray and earned the title of “The Ultimate Fighter.”
On the other hand, Jensen (15-6 MMA, 2-4 UFC) was on top during his recent UFC performance when he scored by guillotine-choke victory over Jesse Forbes at UFC 114 to win “Submission of the Night” honors. Beforehand he also had a submission victory over Steve Steinbess. He made two appearances in 2007 and lost via submission to Thales Leites and Demian Maia at UFC 47 and UFC 77.
Lawlor (6-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) who were fancied by fans because of his wild costumes and cage entrances could be fighting for his octagon future in Anaheim. He had dropped two consecutive bouts, a narrow split decision with Aaron Simpson and a submission loss to Joe Doerksen recently at UFC 113. Lawlor came out from the “The Ultimate Fighter 8″ with a decision nod over Kyle Kingsbury at the finale and a choke-out of C.B. Dollaway at UFC 100 before skids.
Cote (13-6 MMA, 4-6 UFC), isn’t giving smiles now. He returned to the cage at UFC 113 last May after losing it at UFC 90 by a knee injury on the third round by Anderson Silva.
After “The Ultimate Fighter 4″ and a loss to Travis Lutter at the finale, Cote take down 5 opponents to get the title.View Article Source »
