Randy Couture, Official Co-Host for the MMA Awards
Randy Couture is an official co-host to this year's MMA Awards.
As reported earlier on www.fightinginsider.com, the 2010 World MMA Awards is open for nominations. The December event has found itself a co-host. CEO Rob Hewitt announced today at the Press Conference of “Fighters Only” at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas that they chose the Legend, Hall of Famer and Ultimate Fighter, Randy Couture to be co-host.
“This announcement goes hand-in-hand with our commitment to make this year’s awards bigger and better,” Hewitt said. “We are proud to announce Randy ‘The Natural’ Couture as the co-host of the 2010 ceremony. I’ve mentioned the word ‘legitimate’ before. Randy epitomizes legitimacy as as fighter, a world champion, a movie star and is the best ambassador to mixed martial arts there has ever been. He’s been committed throughout his career to representing the sport with the highest regard to professionalism – both in and out of the octagon – and has become a legend and an icon in the process. We are honored to have Randy involved in the World Mixed Martial Arts Awards.”
Couture, who was involved in the 2009 World MMA Awards as both an award presenter and as the star of a video skit, “Randy Couture: Divorce Attorney,” said he was honored to take a more active role in this year’s version.
“It’s going to be a great honor to host the awards,” Couture said. “It’s another kind of ‘pinch me’ moment. I’ve had an amazing year already, and to be able to add hosting the awards as one of the things that’s happened this year is pretty cool. I’m looking forward to it. It’s really cool to be a part of our own awards show for our sport. To be able to host it this year is a great honor.”
Couture’s co-host will be announced in several weeks. It is World MMA Awards 2010’s first time at Palms Casino Resort. Co-owner George Maloof said that he’s dedicated time to assist the even’t prosperity and success.
“I want to thank Rob for giving us this special opportunity to host the MMA Awards,” Maloof said. “I think it’s perfect for The Pearl. It’s a celebration of all the great athletes in this great sport. We’re very excited to be the host Dec. 1 here at The Pearl at the Palms. We’re here to make it work and to make it better than it’s ever been. You have my commitment on that.”View Article Source »
