Tim Sylvia still on for a long journey, at least he already reaped respect from his fight with Paul Buentello.

Tim had his most significant victory after defeating Paul during War on Mainland in Irvine, California. In the first round,  there was unstoppable exchange of punches and forced to go to the corners. ’s attempt to hold on to Sylvia made ref Big John McCarthy separate them for three times during the round. It was won afterwards by Sylvia.

The second round came with punches from Buentello. Being smaller than Sylvia, he had to moved to the ring to work on his strategy against the bigger man. During the first half, it actually worked, but Buentello grew tired and was trapped again by Sylvia. Giving Buentello a good right uppercut knocking him up during the last seconds.

Sylvia is still in a long long way from being a heavyweight champ, but he’s hitting three birds with one stone with h his 3-fight victory strike. Beating Buentello doesn’t make him a star but he earned respect out of it. A past-his-prime fighter like him on a minor card, there’s nothing more to ask.

The Sylvia-Buentello fight is one of the three title fights for the Powehouse World Promotions organization. The others were Tony Lopez who defeated Jason Lambert by a second round KO and Matt Horwich and his surprise rare naked choke to Thales Leites.

UFC lightweight champ Jens Pulver had lost for the last time. The loss that finally convinced him to retire.
