Maia and Miranda : Clash on UFC 118?
Demian Maia, former No.1 Middleweight contender is moving to UFC 118 and will face Mario Miranda.
A source has confirmed the possibility of the fight, which was reported to us by MMA Junkie. But there isn’t official word from MMA yet. Maia 12-2, had been in preparations for Alan Belcher in September 15 UFN event, but unfortunately forced to withdraw the fight due to eye surgery. Eventually, he was pulled out from the Ultimate Fight Night.
This is the first appearance of the Brazilian submission specialist since he lost his middleweight title on Anderson Silva on UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi. There were criticizing comments about Silva’s behavior. He spent much of the bout dancing and hurling trash talk Maia’s way. Silva won by unanimous decision.
On the other hand, Miranda just recently notched his first UFC win after a TKO with David Loiseau on UFC 115. Grald Harris was the one who beat him on TKO.
Miranda was a black belter in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Majority of his win is through Knock-Out bouts. Three submissions and 5 stoppages from KO.
If confirmed, Maia-Miranda will be the main event on UFC in Massachusetts.
The night’s main event is a lightweight championship rematch between Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn, while the co-main event will feature Randy Couture greeting multi-time boxing champ James Toney into the UFC octagon.View Article Source »
